Flinders House is a prominent example of early 20th-century commercial architecture. This six-story former warehouse, originally built in the early 1860s on bluestone footings, underwent significant transformations over the years.

Initially a smaller structure, it was remodeled in 1870 into a five-story Italian Renaissance Palazzo-style building by Turnbull & Dick for clothing manufacturers Banks Brothers Bell & Co. Around 1905, a top story was added, designed by architects Billing & Peck.

In 1928, shop façades featuring terracotta faience with Egyptian motifs were introduced. The building was refurbished and subdivided into sixty residential apartments and two shops in 2000.
